Expectations

Scholarship holders maintain academic standards across their year group throughout their time at Aspire.

Year group eligibility

Four entry points, one scholarship.

The scholarship is open to applicants joining at Years 6 through 9. Each entry point has its own academic context, and the assessment is calibrated accordingly.

  1. Year 6

    Age 10–11

The transition from primary to secondary is a natural assessment point. The school looks for consistent performance across core subjects and evidence of intellectual curiosity in a classroom environment.

  2. Year 7

    Age 11–12

Early secondary entry. The school looks for strong foundations in English, mathematics, and science, alongside the self-motivation to handle a more demanding academic structure.

  3. Year 8

    Age 12–13

Mid-secondary entry. Students at this stage are assessed on subject performance and on their ability to work independently and engage with more complex material across disciplines.

  4. Year 9

    Age 13–14

The final scholarship entry point, one year ahead of the IGCSE pathway. Applicants are assessed on their academic record and readiness to handle examination-level subject demands.

Selection process

Three steps from enquiry to decision.

The process is direct. Start with a conversation, complete the assessment, and receive the offer decision. There are no speculative waiting lists — availability is confirmed at the first contact.

  1. 01

    Contact the admissions team

Start by contacting the admissions team to confirm that the scholarship is currently available for the year group you are applying to. The team will explain the assessment process and the timeline for the current intake.

  2. 02

    Academic assessment

Applicants are invited to complete an academic assessment at the school. The assessment is appropriate to the year group and covers core subject areas. Previous school records are reviewed alongside the assessment results.

  3. 03

    Offer decision

The admissions and academic teams review the full application — school records, assessment performance, and year-group context — before an offer decision is made. Families are contacted directly with the outcome.
